Pelayo AF - Cabaret Artist
I’m Pelayo AF, a cabaret artist. Which basically means I wear extravagant costumes while telling stories that are probably too personal to be shared in a room full of strangers — until they’ve had a drink or two. Then I sing them a song and on a good day, make them cry.
I’m a member of Something From Abroad, a theatre company dedicated to bringing immigrant stories to the stage, especially those told in Spanish and Spanglish. Together, we launched Spanglish Affair, a monthly open stage built around rotating themes and bilingual performance.
I host the show and challenge myself to create a new cabaret piece for every edition. This past year, I committed to developing only original work for Spanglish Affair — although I still love reinterpreting other artists’ songs and infusing them with my own story. You can find many of those performances on my YouTube channel. One of my favorites is “Cariño.”
In 2026, I’ll premiere my first one-person show: a bilingual musical that pays homage to all the victims of capitalism. (If this sounds like something you’d like to host, feel free to reach out.)
My favorite day of the year is Halloween — not only because it’s my birthday, but because it gives me full permission to transform into things like The Laughing Cow or Artificial Intelligence. You can find visual traces of those transformations on my Instagram.
